About The Institute
Mostly Modern Festival Institute |The Netherlands is the European edition of Mostly Modern Festival Institute USA, , where composers from around the world attend the festival, have a new work performed, attend performances, lectures/seminars/mentoring by the composition faculty and other renowned guest speakers. “Mostly Modern” is a place to explore & network with faculty and participants and create new opportunities outside a traditional setting.
Chamber music is a cornerstone of the Mostly Modern experience. During the festival, we offer composers an opportunity to have a brand-new chamber work performed by a world-class ensemble of professional performers from all over Europe and the United States.
The institute accepts composers ages 18 and over. Composers will be provided with a link to a multi-camera shot performance video via the festival’s YouTube channel and top-of-the-line audio of their works and performances.
Mostly Modern Festival | The Netherlands takes place at Muziekschool Zeeland in Middelburg, ZE, The Netherlands. All public performances take place at the acoustically stunning Zeeuwse Concertzaal.
One question you might ask if you're unfamiliar with The Netherlands and you're from the U.S. is, do I have to learn Dutch? Most Dutch citizens speak English very well, so you don't need to learn Dutch, although they love it when you know a little bit!
